A genuine UK right hand drive that has had just 2 former keepers from new! the first owner purchased it in 1966 before selling it in 1968 to the second owner. It has been in its current ownership since 2001 – Since then it has been subjected to a full bare metal respray and restoration.
It was specified before the restoration was carried out that it was to be used for European touring. As a result the car was built to an impressive spec!
First of all the engine – Lightened and balanced bottom end, gas flowed unleaded head by Peter Burgess using a “yellow” mild piper cam. This twinned with the use of a tubular stainless steel exhaust system has helped the engine rev much more freely along with an increase of torque too. The vehicle was then fitted with brand new SU carburettors and a alternator too. Further to this engine spec the cooling system was modified using a later header tank to increase the overall coolant capacity and a Kenlowe fan was also fitted both to help give peace of mind on the longer European drives and for climbing mountain passes!
The suspension and brakes were then set about – All new bushed were fitted were required and a Koni Telescopic damper was fitted to the rear to increase rear stability. the front brakes were replace for higher performance “4 pot” brake calipers.
The gearbox was overhauled by TR enterprises and is fitted with an “A” type overdrive that was overhauled by Overdrive repair services in Sheffield. The means that the car is fitted with overdrive on 2nd, 3rd and 4th!
The interior is a fantastic place to sit with all of the correct gauges working as intended while mounted in a fantastic Walnut dash to match the door capping’s. It is fitted with an aftermarket roll over bar and wind deflector to help stop turbulent air while out on a run while also being fitted with a new mohair hood too!
All together this a fantastic opportunity to purchase a very well sorted TR4a IRS which would, in today’s prices cost way more than the asking price to build!
