Triumph TR4 Unknown - U50
Here we have a 1962 built Triumph TR4 in stunning BRG coachwork. This particular TR4 is one of 3 built by Chestnut House Sports Cars in the mid 1990’s. All 3 TR4’s was built to the same specification, each identified by the colour of the roll cage & spot light bracket. Very well known cars in the TR world.
Starting off with an imported car, it was subject to a full restoration, being registered 10th May 1994, the owner that commissioned the build is the only owner since 1994. The original import papers are present along with the title from America. Starting from a bare chassis, the car then was rebuilt into a competitive road rally car.
The history file is very impressive, most correspondence from the build is present. Invoices present for the future upkeep of the vehicle, servicing/upgrades etc. Most recent work carried out was a rebuild of the engine, including new billet balanced crankshaft, 87mm piston & liner kit, Vernier cam sprocket etc. This was carried out in 2018.
Previous MOT’s date back to 1994, mileage data to hand shows the car has covered around 27000 miles since built.
This TR4 is very well known for it’s road rallying, a folder full of history regarding rallies entered and results are present.
Back to the car we have in front of us today. It presents very well, the interior benefits from a roll over bar, Ridgard seats, Luke harness’s, Mota-Lita steering wheel. Under the bonnet is nicely presented, the engine breathing through 2x Weber 45 DCOE’s. The gearbox works as it should and does have an overdrive fitted. Alternator conversion, oil catch tank, water header tank assembly. The Autolec cut off switch is located under the bonnet.
Externally, the paintwork has stood the test of time, resplendent in British Racing Green, bumpers removed, lamp bar with period Lucas lamps fitted. Works style wing vents, Minilite style wheels fitted with Firestone tyres.
A soft top is fitted, we may be able to supply & fit to the car with the ‘Surrey top’ assembly if desired for an additional cost.
Primed and ready to compete once again, eligible for HRCR & HERO events etc. Will come with full MOT, service from our partner company TR Enterprises & 12 months membership to the TR Register.
