Here we have a truely magnificent example of a new very rare MK2 MGA 1600 De luxe. Just 331 are known to have been built all sporting Twin cam features such as Centre-lock wheels and 4 wheel disc brakes. The latter being way ahead of its time!
First built in may 1962 at Abingdon before being destined for the North American market, this car was equipped with Centre-lock disc wheels, four wheel disc brakes, a heater and a close ratio gearbox from the factory.
This car repatriated to the UK in 1998 before being meticulously restored to an extellent standard buy its former owner in the UK.
Now presenting in the wonderful colour combination of red coach work over black interior and wet weather gear it really does look the part! The coach lines are excellent as are the panel gaps too.
As part of its full "nut & bolt" restoration the body was removed, treated and painted in ensure true attention to detail along with the chassis before the task of the rebuild began. Due to this high quality of work, The body remains body coloured underneath and the chassis is finished in its factory black colour and remains in the same excellent condition as it was when rebuilt too.
All new suspension and brakes were fitted along with a new wiring loom and ancillaries too. The drive train was also tended too. The original engine was rebuilt and mated to a brand new tpye 9 5 speed gear box sending the power back to the newly rebuilt back axle.
Since this restoration has taken place it has covered very little miles (a little over 700 to be presice) having been part of an eclectic car collection for the last 10 years.
Now the car resides with us having being freshly recommisioned as part of its preparation with us and is faultless to drive.
Viewing is very much advised with this car as it is a credit to its former owners .
