Ford Fiesta XR2 (U750)

Vehicle Description
There are certain cars that instantly transport you back to a different era of motoring, and an early Fiesta XR2 does exactly that.

This 1982 example is particularly appealing, showing just over 38,000 miles. Finished in Sunburst Red with the unmistakable XR2 graphics, black wheelarch extensions, front spotlights and period Pepperpot wheels it is very much the early-'80s hot hatch it was when new.

The familiar 1.6-litre Kent Crossflow engine is paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. The engine bay itself is exceptionally tidy, retaining a pleasingly factory appearance that complements the originality seen throughout the rest of the car.

The interior has been equally well preserved, with the original grey striped upholstery, three-spoke steering wheel and period dashboard all presenting very well. It remains reassuringly true to how an XR2 of this era should look and feel.

We last sold this very car in mid-2024, so it is an XR2 we already know well. Prior to handover at that time, we carried out a full major service and fitted a replacement clutch, while the paintwork received a final machine polish and protective sealant.

The first-generation XR2 is now a firmly established Fast Ford classic, and examples retaining this level of originality are becoming increasingly hard to find. With just 38,260 miles showing, its distinctive Sunburst Red finish and wonderfully period specification. This is a great example of the model that helped define Ford’s early hot-hatch era.
