Lancia Fulvia Super Sport Zagato 1.6 1972

Lets just take a moment to look at the pictures of this truly delightful classic Italian sports car. In arguably the best colour of Red with tan interior.

Date of registration 01/10/72

This genuine, RHD model, one of only 74 made has a mileage of just over 88000 miles, it is believed to be genuine. The vehicle has covered less than 6000 miles in 11 years. Last year covering a mere 226 miles. The history file that comes with the vehicle is very impressive. MOT’s dating back to 1991 when the mileage was recorded at 64548. Photos of the restoration dating back to 1983 where a bare metal respray was carried out. A mountain of receipts from well respected companies, Omicron, Richard Thorne Classic Cars, IK Classics. Other receipts for the general care, upkeep & general service work.

Picking through the invoices, in 2002 it had over £4000 spent with Omicron on various items. Invoices show it has had its starter motor, alternator carburettor’s and front brake calipers rebuilt in the late 2000’s early 2010’s. In 2014, IK Classics replaced the clutch assembly and a partial engine rebuild including timing chain replacement. A brake overhaul was carried out at this time to. In 2015 the vehicle went back to IK Classics and had its inner & outer sills replaced, jacking points etc along with repairs to the lower bodywork. The car then had a bottom half respray.

Coming to the condition of the car today. Starting with the drivetrain, the engine starts with healthy oil pressure and sounds superb, on the road the engine pulls very well with no noticeable noises or smoke. It has a 123 distributor fitted The dog leg 5 speed gearbox works exactly as it should, again no noises apparent. The braking system pulls the car up to a stop very well with no pulling to the side.

All the electrics appear to work, a surprise for a 1970’s Italian car!!

The interior is truly stunning, it has an aftermarket steering wheel however, we have the original wheel with us if it’s a deal breaker. It is fitted with harness’s but again, we have the original ones in our possession. It has had a Retrotrip fitted previously for when the car competed in a handful of HRCR road events. The Retrotrip is with us but not fitted at this time.

Externally the paintwork is gleaming, gaps are nice and all catches work correctly. No major corrosion apparent, all the lights & brightwork are in good condition. The wheels have been recently refurbished shod with decent tyres fitted. Overall this is a very desirable, rare piece of Italian history. The Lancia will be at home on the country roads in England, on the continent and also as a regularity rally car.
