1963 TRIUMPH TR4 ROAD RALLY SPEC
Triumph TR4 1963. This vehicle was built 8th August 1963 and was dispatched on the 15th August to Geneve, Switzerland. Imported back ‘home’ in September 1992, the 1st rebuild took place. The 1 UK owner built the car up to RHD specification and mildly modified (photo album in history file). The ownership changed in 2007 to the only other UK owner. He drove the car for a while before starting on another rebuild…. After a 4 year restoration, the MOT was granted and the next chapter began.
Starting from a bare chassis right up to the addition of the surrey top (soft top option available), this TR4 looks superb with it’s Aston Martin Blue pearl paintwork. 89mm fast road engine with SU carbs to feed the torquey motor, overdrive gearbox is a delight to use on the highways or the ‘whites’ of a road rally event. This car has competed in several HRCR road events (muddy pictures to prove), so if a bit of navigational events take your fancy, it’s already proven. Wiring & speed sensor already installed for a Brantz trip meter. Ridgard black period bucket seats complement the interior. 5.5x15 Minilite wheels fitted with all weather tyres. Spot lights, reverse lamp.
To summarise, this TR4 has covered around 5000 miles since 2012, has one previous owner and a history file dating from when it was imported. The appearance is stunning thanks to the ‘modern’ colour chosen, complemented by the Red surrey roof section. Would be ideal for many uses, with the bigger bore engine it can sit happily on the motorways to the South of France ad the low down grunt to compete in road rally events, local up to Rally of the Tests!
