1976 LAND ROVER SERIES 3 STATION WAGON –
The Land Rover Series 3 was first introduced in 1971 as a replacement for the Series 2A running until 1985 where it was then replaced by the Defender.
This particular low mileage 2286cc petrol example was acquired by us from a local “Flight Lieutenant” of the RAF is clearly an enthusiast owned vehicle. Having been subjected to a full, comprehensive body off restoration by its former keeper. The vehicle is equipped with Fairey overdrive, Free wheel hubs, front interior storage locker (in place of the centre bench seat which is also supplied with the vehicle) side and rear “side steps”, Safari roof and a modern day stereo/CDplayer.
The overall condition of the vehicle is to be considered as outstanding with the recorded mileage being just 44,000 miles which is believed to be genuine. The chassis is believed to be original and has been rust protected as part of the restoration. The interior trim is also to be regarded as outstanding with no adverse wear to any of the seats or instruments. A good amount of documentation has been provided with the vehicle including a history of what the vehicle was used for by the first owner. This explains that it was in fact used to collect and deliver castings from foundries in the London area. In 1989 the owners sold the castings company but retained the Land Rover and put it into storage for 5 1/2 years before being brought back out into the day light, MOT tested and used to pull a trailer for the purposes of moving house. It then returned into storage for 7 years before being sold on to the next owner.
The restoration took place in the late 2000’s before being sold to the last owner in the log book. We acquired the vehicle as it didn’t first the purpose of the last owner so it is looking for a good home to be enjoyed!
It has been subjected to an agreed insurance valuation of £15000 and is supplied with many original documents such as Fairey overdrive operator manuals, document wallets, MOT’s parts catalogues, spare parts and bills for work carried out.
Not to be missed and very hard to find other vehicles of this calibre
