1973/L Triumph Stag 4spd manual O/D

Firstly, This is a beautiful example of how Stags “should have been” when they were released. Sadly Stags were known mostly for the reliability issues rather than there excellent usability.

This is a car that has been restored regardless of expense – No stone has been left un-turned and so therefore there is nothing left to be desired !

This vehicle was subjected to a ground up body restoration by a former keeper in 1997 and having been used only sparingly since (around 2500 miles to be precise !) As a result it is safe to say that the underside of this beautiful example is presented just as well at the top !

We purchased this vehicle from a gent who bought this example from the restorer and who subsequently undertook a full re-commissioning of the vehicle which included a total refurbishment of the engine conducted by well known Stag specialists “E. J. Ward” which included the following – New pistons, Nitrided balanced crank, bearings, oil pump, chains, tensioner, bronze valve guides, stainless steel valves, up-rated head gaskets etc! All att the cost of over £9k (completed just 700 miles ago). To add to this spec there were also further changes to the ancillaries. Firstly the fitment of a new electric water pump with a digital cabin readout, heavy duty alternator, electronic ignition (luminition) and newly refurbish carburettors and power steering pump and new belts!

At the time that all of this work was undertaken the gearbox, overdrive and rear diff were checked and given a full bill of health. While in the previous owners custody a full suspension upgrade was undertaken including new hydraulic units, springs, wheel bearings and poly bushed throughout.

Further things to mention are the quality of the trim work, hood frame and new hood. Firstly there are bills with the car that amass to over £7k for the fitment of the new black leather interior, refurbished hood frame and mohair hood.

The vehicle is also currently fitted with new 15″ wire wheels (we can change if they are not your preference) and a working stereo.

A full agreed valuation of the vehicle was undertaken by E. J. Ward in light of all of the work that has been undertaken listing all aspects of the vehicle as “A1”
